Built for how costs are really shared
Arithmetic you can audit
Whole paisa and cents, never floating point, so a three-way split of ₹1,000 remains ₹1,000. Balances reconcile to zero on every write, and the app verifies it.
Any currency, at the day's rate
Spend in euros, report in rupees. Each expense holds the rate it was entered at, so history never rewrites itself when the market moves.
Fewer transfers
Four people owing each other in a circle collapses to one or two payments. You pay however you already do — Fairly records it and never touches the money.
Read the receipt
Photograph it and the line items arrive in the editor, ready to correct. Recognition runs on the device; the image never leaves it.
Portable by default
Your ledger is a database on your phone. Export to CSV whenever you like. Deleting a group writes a backup first.

Nobody is asked to register
The people you share with open a link, see the numbers, and carry on. That is the architecture, not an introductory offer we withdraw once enough people are using it.
Fairly Pro
Everything above is free, permanently. Pro is a single payment — never a subscription — for repeating bills, occupancy-based splits, one balance across groups, device sync, PDF and Excel export, and spending analysis.
Priced per country by hand. An automatic conversion would put it at roughly three times the right price in India.
Privacy policy

The short version. Your expenses live on your phone. We run no analytics, no advertising and no trackers of any kind. Nothing about your ledger reaches us unless you deliberately switch on syncing.
What stays on your device
Everything, by default. Groups, people, expenses, splits, payments, settlement plans, receipt photos and your change history are stored in a database on the phone itself. The app is built to work with no network at all, and it does.
Receipt scanning runs on the device using on-device text recognition. The photograph is never uploaded.
What leaves your device, and only then
Exchange rates
When you enter an expense in a foreign currency, the app asks a public
exchange-rate service (api.frankfurter.dev) for that day's
rates. It sends a currency code — for example EUR — and
nothing else. No amount, no name, no identifier.
Syncing your own devices — optional, off by default
If you turn syncing on, an encrypted copy of your ledger is stored on our server so your other phone or tablet can read it. Some things worth knowing:
- It is off unless you switch it on, and switching it off leaves everything on your device untouched.
- Your data is filed under a random 32-byte key your device generates. It is not linked to your name, your email, or any account.
- We hold no index of who a key belongs to, because no such record is ever created.
- It travels over HTTPS and is encrypted at rest.
- The server is in AWS in Mumbai (
ap-south-1).
Signing in with Google — optional
You may sign in with Google to attach a name to your purchase. If you do, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. It is used to show who is signed in and to associate a purchase with you.
The people you split expenses with are never asked to sign in. There are no accounts for them, by design.
Buying Pro
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card details, billing address, or any payment information — Google tells us only that a purchase completed.
What we do not do
- No advertising, at any tier.
- No analytics or usage tracking. The app contains no analytics library.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone.
- No profiling, and no automated decisions about you.
- No access to your contacts, location, microphone or calendar.
How long anything is kept
Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Synced data stays until you delete it — see deleting your data. We keep server logs for 14 days for reliability; they record errors, never your sync key and never the contents of your ledger.
Children
Fairly is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Your rights
You can export everything to CSV from inside the app at any time, and delete any of it yourself. For anything else — access, correction, erasure, or a complaint — write to us at the address below and we will respond.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the app will say so before the change takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.

Deleting your data
Applies to the Fairly app for Android, com.fairly.app
Most of your data never reaches us at all. This page covers the two things that can, and how to remove each.
1. Everything on your phone
Your groups, expenses and receipts live on the device. To remove them:
- Delete a single group from that group's settings screen, or
- Uninstall Fairly, which removes the whole database, or
- Android Settings → Apps → Fairly → Storage → Clear storage.
Export to CSV first if you want a copy. This cannot be undone.
2. Synced data, if you turned syncing on
In the app: Devices → Stop syncing this device.
To have the stored copy erased from our server, email us from the address below and include your sync key, which you can read on the Devices screen. We need it because it is the only way your data is identified — we hold no account, name or email against it, so without the key we genuinely cannot find the record.
Synced data is deleted within 30 days of the request.
3. Your Google sign-in, if you used it
Sign out on the Account screen. That removes the account from the device. To revoke Fairly's access entirely, visit your Google account permissions.
What we keep, and for how long
Server logs for 14 days, for reliability. They contain error details — never your sync key, and never the contents of your ledger. Purchase records are held by Google Play, not by us.

What Fairly is
A tool for recording who owes whom among a group of people. It is a ledger and a calculator.
What Fairly is not
It is not a payment service. Fairly never holds, transfers or processes money between people. When you mark a debt as settled, you are recording that a payment happened somewhere else — in your bank, in cash, in whatever way you actually paid. We are not a party to it.
It is not financial, legal or tax advice, and the figures it produces are not a legally binding record of debt between you and anyone else.
Your ledger is yours
You own what you put in. You can export it at any time. We claim no rights over it.
Purchases
Pro and the Trip Pass are one-time purchases made through Google Play, and Google's terms and refund policy apply. Pro unlocks its features for as long as you own the app. A Trip Pass covers one group for 30 days from purchase.
Features that are free today stay free. We will not move an existing free feature behind the paywall.
Reasonable use
Don't use Fairly to break the law, and don't attack the sync service or try to reach other people's data. We may refuse service for either.
No warranty, and the limit of our liability
Fairly is provided as it is. We work hard to keep the arithmetic correct — balances are checked on every write — but we cannot promise the app is free of defects, and we are not liable for financial loss, disputes between you and other people, or data lost from a device we do not control.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to what you paid us.
Changes
These terms may change. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

Before you write
The app crashed
Fairly writes down what went wrong and shows it the next time you open it, with a Copy the details button. Paste that into your email — it says exactly what happened and saves a great deal of guesswork.
My balances look wrong
Open the group and check the Activity feed, which records every change and who made it. If a figure still looks wrong, send us a CSV export (Group → Export) and tell us which number you expected.
I paid for Pro and it is not unlocked
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore your purchase. Purchases are tied to the Google account that paid, so make sure the phone is signed in to that one. If it still does not appear, email us with the order number from your Google Play receipt.
Can I get my data out?
Yes, always. Group → Export → CSV. It opens in Excel, Numbers or Sheets, and it is your data to keep.
Does everyone need the app?
No. Share a link and they open it in any browser. No install, no account, no sign-up.
Reporting a security issue
Email us with Security in the subject. Please give us a reasonable window to fix anything before disclosing it publicly.
